Weeping, I bow before the souls of these 215 children found last Friday, May 25, 2021. Their bodies were found buried at the Kamloops Indian Residential School on the land of the Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc First Nation.
Innocent, helpless children who were killed through acts of horrific evil because they were Indigenous
Weeping, I bow before their parents, families, friends, and communities.
May the discovery of these children’s deaths bring not only change, in measurable action, but also true transformation and reconciliation between the Indigenous peoples of this land called Canada and the descendants of the colonial oppressors, who are still in power.
Here is a deeply moving tribute to the children by Abilgail Echo-Hawk.
